This case study examines the evolution of cultural diversity interventions deployed in a global organization viz. Infosys Technologies Ltd. It traces the roots of the need for cross-cultural measures — the customer satisfaction survey etc — and describes the mechanisms that have been devised to meet the cultural needs. References are made to some of the standard cultural models e.g. Hofstede, Hall etc and how these have been adapted to the Infosys environment. One of the features of the cross-cultural initiative has been the variety of vehicles that have been used to create awareness and help employees appreciate and be sensitive to differences. An attempt is also made to quantify this effort and measure its effectiveness.
